“I get a bit emotional about some of the changes it’s made for residents’ lives.”

To some residents, this scheme feels not only like home but also a hotel thanks to its welcoming staff. And then there are the facilities, which include a bistro and hairdressing salon that are open to the public and have helped boost the local economy. Designed in consultation with Bury Council’s adult care services, the project, set on a main bus route from Bury to Manchester, boasts 38 two-bedroom and two one-bedroom, self-contained, affordable extra care apartments. Backed by the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities, the development marked the first time in more than 25 years that new social housing had been built in the
borough.
