With tragedies like Grenfell and the death of Awaab Ishak eroding public trust and confidence in the housing sector, a major cultural shift is needed to improve relationships with tenants. This long-term journey starts with listening to tenants, valuing their voice and being accountable. It is also essential to tackle and eradicate stigmatising attitudes that may exist in the sector.
In this session, you will hear powerful voices of lived experience and crucially how sharing and learning from their stories has led to lasting and positive change. How can the sector ensure that tenants are able to express themselves authentically and how should landlords respond to uncomfortable truths or challenging views? How do we ensure voices are not ignored or minimised? How can residents bring about systemic and fundamental change that addresses root causes rather than skirting around the edges?
Through methodologies like co-production, you will explore how to achieve genuine power shifts, build empathy, trust and find impactful solutions that deliver lasting improvements to services, lives and communities.
