More than a quarter of schemes funded through the Homes and Communities Agency’s latest Kickstart scheme have been rated ‘poor’.
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment gave 14 of the 52 schemes it assessed from Kickstart round two 9.5 or less out of 20.
Among the designs rated poor were two Keepmoat schemes in County Durham - in Commercial Street, Brandon and Finchale Aveneue, West Rainton - which were awarded 6.5 and 7 respectively. A scheme developed by Galliford Try at Lakeside, Scunthorpe also scored 7.
The HCA has published a league table of schemes funded through the £716 million Kickstart programme, which aims to revitalise stalled building schemes.
The average score was 12, compared with nine in the first round of Kickstart.
