A housing association based in North Wales has appointed two new executive directors #UKhousing

ClwydAlyn has named Sandy Murray as executive director of resources and Sian Williams as executive director of people, culture and communications.

Ms Murray was appointed in October 2024 to replace Paul McGrady in the role. She will oversee finance, governance, procurement, IT and business intelligence functions at ClwydAlyn.

Previously, she spent four years at Bender UK, an electrical safety equipment manufacturer, where she held roles such as finance director.

Ms Murray has also served as the chair of several committees at the Riverside since 2020, including vice-chair of the group board and chair of the landlord’s governance and remuneration committee.

Previously, she was finance director at the Oaklea Trust and finance manager at South Lakes Housing.

Ms Murray said: “Using my business skills to benefit the not-for-profit sector is my focus.

“Social housing is so important – it really is the foundation stone, aiding people to live well. Every day that goes by we’re helping someone and making a huge impact in a person’s or a family’s life.”

Ms Williams will be responsible for leading organisational and culture development at ClwydAlyn, as well as overseeing people and communications.

She replaces Elaine Gilbert, who had been in the post for eight years.

Ms Williams was previously leisure development manager at Aura Leisure and Libraries in Flintshire, which she took on in 2017.

Other previous roles include sports development manager at Flintshire County Council and board member at North Wales Housing.

She is also a board member of Well-Fed, a social good business based in North Wales.

Ms Williams said ClwydAlyn is “a hugely progressive organisation with some incredibly important social goals”.

“It’s a really exciting time for ClwydAlyn, as we develop a new corporate plan which aims to build on the progress and innovation of the last six years and continue to lead vital work to tackle poverty across North Wales,” she added.

Clare Budden, chief executive of ClwydAlyn, said: “ClwydAlyn has seen some real achievements over the last six years in our commitment to beat poverty in North Wales, but we know that the challenge is growing.

“Sian and Sandy’s knowledge, experience and values will be invaluable as we develop and launch our new corporate plan and continue our priorities to tackle important societal challenges such as homelessness, food and fuel poverty.”
