Accord Housing Association has appointed three new members to its board, including a journalist who works for The Sunday Times.
Writer and broadcaster Christina Patterson reports on society, culture, politics, books and the arts, and she is a regular commentator on radio and TV news programmes.
She will join the Accord board alongside Sean Pearce, who is the chief operating officer for the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation, Ofqual. He has more than 25 years’ experience of working with and in the public sector, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) Council.
Thirdly, Stella Layton, a former Assay Master in Birmingham, who oversaw the hallmarking of jewellery, joins the board. Ms Layton has been chief executive of several global businesses, and has worked in the jewellery trade for around three decades.
Accord is one the largest housing associations in the West Midlands with around 13,000 homes.
Dr Chris Handy, chief executive, said: “Our board members play a critical role in overseeing the delivery of Accord’s key objectives, leading our strategic direction and protecting the values and ethos of this organisation. We are fortunate that we have an incredibly dedicated, highly skilled board here at Accord, who together bring a huge breadth of experience and governance expertise to our organisation.”
The three new board appointments have been made during the last quarter of 2019, as previous members have stood down from Accord’s board when their terms of office have come to an end.
