In the news
Away from Manchester, The Sun is reporting calls from housing sector leaders for the next prime minister to commit billions of pounds to build 145,000 new social homes.
Meanwhile, Sky News reports that the current prime minister has pledged to improve housing for people with disabilities. Look out for something on this on Inside Housing later today.
Our sister publication, Social Housing, is today publishing the results of its Housing Sector Survey, produced in partnership with Savills. The magazine has teased some of the initial findings, including data showing 70% of councils are set to ramp up delivery of affordable homes. Inside Housing has also trailed the report.
Colchester Council is considering placing prefabricated flats on top of existing blocks, the Daily Gazette is reporting.
York Mix says that York Council’s “failure” to determine its housing plan has prompted a house builder to appeal to the government.
In Wales, The Leader is reporting a 36% rise in evictions among Flintshire tenants.
