Taking on the regeneration of part of the Trevu Road Unesco World Heritage Site was always going to pose challenges: the industrial and historical significance of the site, originally occupied by Holman Brothers, credited with the creation and manufacture of the rock drill used in mines across the globe, called for considerable consultation with organisations including English Heritage. Perseverance paid off, though, with the redevelopment of the former public assembly rooms providing 18 affordable rent apartments targeted at people over 50 with personalised care plans or in receipt of higher-level disability living allowance. The Homes and Communities Agency and Cornwall Council contributed funding.
