Housing association and council moves

Jo Barrett
Jo Barrett is now executive director of strategy, governance and assurance at Eastlight Community Homes

Elliott Sweetman is stepping up to be interim chief executive of The Barnet Group, a trading company owned by the north London council which, among its jobs, runs Barnet Homes. This follows the departure of Tim Mulvenna. Mr Sweetman was previously group director of development property, and has held other senior roles at the group, including group director of operations and property.

Carol Dover has been appointed deputy chief executive of Two Rivers Housing, as part of an executive restructure. Ms Dover has been the organisation’s corporate director of resources since 2019, and previously was head of finance at Connexus.

Wandle has appointed Rebecca Escott-New as executive director of corporate services, a newly created role. Previously Ms Escott-New was director of strategy, planning and compliance at Crisis.

Eastlight Community Homes has promoted four directors to executive positions as part of a streamlining of senior leaders. David Mullen, previously finance director, is now executive director of finance; Jo Barrett, previously strategy and assurance director, is now executive director of strategy, governance and assurance; Andrew Hull, previously development director, is now executive director of operations; and Charlotte Todd, previously property director, is now executive director of property.

David Boden has started as director of asset operations at Platform Housing Group. Previously Mr Boden was director of repairs and field services at Places for People.

Abri has appointed Helen Wilson as regional managing director of the group’s recently created South region. Previously Ms Wilson was head of housing (north London) at Clarion.

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has appointed two new members of staff: Sarah Good as head of major projects and development and Grant Thornton as regeneration manager.

Other moves

Geeta Nanda
Crisis has announced that Geeta Nanda will join its board

Bronwen Rapley has been appointed chair of campaigning alliance Homes for the North. Ms Rapley is chief executive of Onward Homes and deputy chair of the National Housing Federation.

Crisis has announced that Geeta Nanda will be joining its board in September. Ms Nanda is the outgoing chief executive of Metropolitan Thames Valley and former chair of the G15.

Richard McCarthy has been appointed chair of FAHHA, the for-profit housing association subsidiary of Funding Affordable Homes. Mr McCarthy’s previous roles include chief executive of Peabody and chair of the National Housing Federation.

St Mungo’s has announced Mike Adamson as its next chair of trustees. Mr Adamson’s previous roles include chief executive of the British Red Cross and interim director of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Trafficking.

Mairi MacRae has been appointed as Shelter’s new director of campaigns, policy and communications, replacing Osama Bhutta. Ms MacRae was previously assistant director of advocacy and activism at the charity.

Communities that Work, a national body for social landlords on supporting people into work, has appointed two new board members: Jenny Jackson and Nic McGrath. Ms Jackson is tenancy support and employability manager at Futures Housing Group, and Ms McGrath is director of Newground Together.

Ebele Akojie and Jason Green have joined the board of for-profit provider Heylo Housing. Ms Akojie was most recently executive director of finance and resources at Settle, and formerly chief financial officer at One Housing. Mr Green is a managing partner at corporate finance advisory firm Liverpool Street Capital Advisors.
