“What I like about it is the design but also the use of public space, including the greenery.”
Steve Douglas
Number of homes: 170 (all affordable)
Cost: £40 million
A mix of 101 two-bedroom and 69 one-bedroom apartments, Halton Court is designed to set new standards for senior living while remaining affordable: the homes are predominantly for social rent, with 20 available for shared ownership. The development is seen as key to creating a balanced community at Kidbrooke Village, a Berkeley regeneration scheme providing 4,800 new homes. Communal facilities include a village hall, restaurant and bar, hair salon, treatment and spa rooms, a laundry and an IT suite. Outdoor space has wheelchair access, and two rooftop gardens with sensory planting provide views over surrounding parkland. The Homes and Communities Agency provided £21.2 million funding.
