Major London landlord L&Q has transferred 309 homes to a west London housing association.
Teddington-based RHP most recently acquired 108 homes across the Spelthorne borough in Surrey in a stock transfer that completed this week.
RHP said the acquisition will expand its operating area but remain close to existing stock across Richmond, Hounslow, Kingston and Hillingdon.
“This means that the organisation will be able to take over the management of homes with little disruption to residents,” the landlord said.
This follows another 201 homes RHP acquired from L&Q located in Richmond and Hounslow.
L&Q carried out a consultation with households involved in the transfer beforehand to give people the opportunity to ask questions and share their views.
The acquisitions form part of RHP’s new strategy, launched last year, which includes exploring opportunities for growth in order to “expand their social impact and protect their homes, communities, and business for the future”, the landlord said.
The transfers also fit with L&Q’s stock rationalisation strategy. In December last year, the landlord transferred 128 homes to Eastlight Community Homes, while in February 2024, Heart of Medway Housing Association acquired 253 homes from L&Q.
The 109,000-home landlord also recently put its £1.2bn private rented sector business up for sale.
Sarah Thomas, chief executive of RHP, said: “After receiving positive feedback from residents after our first stock acquisition with L&Q, we’re confident we can maintain these additional homes to a good standard.
“We’re pleased to be able to expand our social impact by moving into Spelthorne, whilst still providing a local service due to its proximity to our existing stock. I’d like to welcome these new customers to RHP – we’re excited to have you as part of the communities we serve.”
