The chief executive of Gentoo, John Craggs, has resigned with immediate effect.
Gentoo is yet to announce an interim chief executive. The Sunderland-based housing association’s governance rating is currently under review by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). It already has a G2 rating and will be non-compliant if it is downgraded.
Keith Loraine was recently announced as the new chair of Gentoo, having previously served as chief executive of Isos Housing Group.
A spokesperson for Gentoo said Mr Loraine has a "strong understanding of the requirements of the Homes and Communities Agency as a regulator and will assist Gentoo through his knowledge of governance, finance and performance best practice."
Mr Loraine said: "We would like to thank John for his efforts in helping reshape the group over the last two years. We wish him good luck for the future.
"Myself and the rest of the group board and executive team will continue to progress Gentoo’s strategy and vision for great homes, strong communities and inspired people."
Simon Walker, company secretary at Gentoo, said at the time of the regulatory review announcement in August that an independent investigation had been launched and the findings would be shared with the HCA.
