One Housing’s long-standing chief executive, Mick Sweeney, is stepping down after 30 years at the helm, the association has announced.
Mr Sweeney, who spent 36 years with One Housing, has seen the association grow from a few hundred homes to 15,000 during his tenure. It currently has an annual turnover of £250m and a development pipeline which includes 3,500 new homes and extra care.
Nigel Fee, deputy chair of One Housing, said: “On behalf of the chair and the board, I’d like to pay tribute to his achievements and lifetime work. Thanks to his efforts, thousands of families can enjoy safe, decent and affordable homes across north and east London, and beyond.”
Mr Sweeney said: “I’m proud to have played my part in creating this entrepreneurial and diverse organisation, and thank the hundreds of board and staff colleagues, and external partners, who have worked with me to achieve its success.”
One Housing has announced that the board will be seeking a new chief executive shortly.
