Housing association Kingdom Group has appointed a new group director of corporate services #UKhousing

Leigh Grubb has assumed the newly created role at the Fife-based landlord. He joined Kingdom in November 2023 as executive director of finance.

Mr Grubb’s new role as corporate services director gives him responsibility for the people, digital, finance, and performance risk and governance functions within Kingdom.

The role was created after a structural evaluation of the group. Kingdom believes the position will ensure that the organisation is “well-positioned to meet the needs of its customers now and in the future” and deliver “exceptional customer experience”.

Before joining Kingdom, Mr Grubb was director of finance and governance at Caledonia Housing Association and chief operating officer at Thorntons Investment Management, a Dundee-based wealth management business. He previously spent more than a decade at financial services company Alliance Trust.

Tom Barclay, group chief executive of Kingdom, said: “In the relatively short time Leigh has been with Kingdom, he has made an excellent contribution both as a member of the executive management team and as the leader of our finance team.

“Leigh has held various senior management roles and has a real passion for customer service. His strategic approach will allow us to continue delivering life-changing services to our customers and our communities as we focus on our mission to provide more than a home.”

Mr Grubb said he would continue to work “closely with both my existing senior management team colleagues and with the new directors that we are bringing into the group.

He continued: “I see the role as being about making sure we are making the right investments in our people, in our systems and in the development of business opportunities to deliver great customer outcomes and ensure the long-term resilience and success of the organisation.

“It’s a role that builds naturally on the experiences of my current role and previous roles I held within financial services organisations and I can’t wait to get started.”

In July Tricia Hill, development director at Kingdom, spoke to Inside Housing about the “unexpected nature” of the Scottish government’s cut to its housebuilding programme and how the housing association was responding.

Earlier this week, a report found that the number of long-term empty homes in Scotland brought back into use rose by 50% last year.
