The coronavirus pandemic may have forced this year’s UK Housing Awards ceremony online, but it has done nothing to dampen the sector’s passion for helping society’s most vulnerable.
With more than 21 categories to be contested (see full list of winners below), this year’s winning and highly commended entries demonstrate the breadth and urgency of the work done by the UK housing sector in everything from diversity to homelessness – even in the teeth of a worldwide pandemic.
Home Group has been named this year’s Landlord of the Year, after having been nominated for this award twice previously. The judges cited Home Group’s “efficient, high-quality services” and outstanding levels of customer satisfaction as reasons behind their decision.
Council of the Year was won by Hackney, which brought its housing services back under direct council control in 2016. The judges were particularly impressed with Hackney Council’s strategic approach to tackling the housing crisis within its borders, as well as the housing team’s success in delivering complex housing services and tackling homelessness.
Martin Hilditch, editor of Inside Housing, said: “The UK Housing Awards are about highlighting learning from across the UK. Congratulations to all the winners and commended entries today. It really is an opportunity to highlight great performance and hopefully to help it spread more widely.
“Look out for more details on all the winners – and some top tips – in December’s edition of Inside Housing.”
