Trafford Housing Trust (THT) chief executive Matthew Gardiner is to temporarily leave the role after securing a secondment to become L&Q’s new head of ideation.
Mr Gardiner has moved from Trafford Housing Trust this week and will now lead the L&Q team that looks at innovation and the future of affordable housing.
In 2016 L&Q and THT, a much smaller organisation, signed a joint venture to deliver 2,000 homes in Greater Manchester.
The intention behind the partnership was to combine THT’s local knowledge and L&Q’s financial strength.
Larry Gold, deputy chief executive of Trafford Housing Trust, will be moving up to become acting CEO in Mr Gardiner’s absence.
Mr Gardiner told Inside Housing that the role would be on a rolling basis and that the length of the secondment at L&Q had not been set.
He has led THT since its formation in 2005. Prior to this he was chief executive at South Liverpool Housing for six years.
Mr Gardiner was named on Inside Housing’s 2018 Tech Leaders list for THT’s work piloting a range of sensor-based technologies, and energy and health tech at its properties.
