Success and innovation in housing development were celebrated at an awards ceremony organised by Inside Housing which took place in London today.
Inside Housing’s Top 60 Developments, sponsored by aircrete block manufacture H+H, saw 10 developers and social landlords receive prizes in 10 different categories, plus one overall winner.
The development named ‘winner of winners’ was Cranbrook, East Devon’s new community, developed by East Devon District Council, DCH (formerly Devon & Cornwall Housing), Sovereign and the Homes and Communities Agency.
Cranbrook also won in the Affordable Housing Development of the Year category. The judges described the development, which by 2035 is expected to have grown to 7,500 homes, as a “fantastic vision for a new town on the edge of Exeter”.
Other winners included Northfield Village Phase 1 in Stafford in the Joint Venture Development of the Year category and Richardson’s Yard, a shipping container home scheme developed by QED Estates and Brighton Housing Trust which won Innovative Development of the Year.
