Elspeth Mackenzie, chief executive at Thrive Homes, said that Mr King’s extensive experience will benefit the landlord and its customers.

“Stephen will be working closely with our investors and other stakeholders to support our ambitions to provide quality and affordable homes,” she said.

Mr King joins the landlord following senior financial positions at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) and Shaw Trust.

During his nine-year tenure at MTVH, he oversaw a £1bn regeneration project at Clapham Park in London. At Shaw Trust, Mr King is credited with driving measured growth and implemented transparent working practices.

Thrive Homes said: “One of Stephen’s key strengths lies in fostering collaborative environments and building robust teams to achieve strategic objectives.

“He is well regarded for his innovative approach to integrating finance seamlessly into all areas of operation, promoting efficiency and delivering high-quality outcomes.”

At Thrive Homes, Mr King will lead a team of 25 in the finance department, “managing customer accounts and contributing to Thrive’s continued growth”, the statement added.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr King said he is excited to join the team and contribute his experience to further the association’s purpose, “not only in financial stewardship but also providing homes that enable individuals and families to build and sustain the lives they want”.
