A resident in a housing association development in Scotland is self-isolating in their home after being tested for coronavirus.
Yesterday afternoon, a resident in a block managed by Hanover Scotland in Ayrshire reported feeling unwell after recently returning from South East Asia.
The site manager contacted the NHS and the resident was taken to hospital for tests. The patient is currently waiting for the results of the test.
In the meantime, the resident is self-isolating at home. Hanover Scotland said it does not believe that residents at any of its developments are at any increased risk.
A representative from Hanover Scotland said it is closely following the advice offered by the NHS and its senior management team are monitoring the situation closely.
There are currently 87 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, of which three are in Scotland.
Yesterday, two patients tested positive for coronavirus, with one being found in the Ayrshire area.
In its statement, Hanover confirmed that its resident taken ill yesterday was not the patient reported as having tested positive for Coronavirus in Ayrshire.
On Tuesday, the government released its coronavirus action plan to tackle and contain the virus, and warned a fifth of workers in the UK could be off sick at the virus’ peak.
