Places for People has created a new role of chief operating officer following its affordable housing director’s decision to step down after seven years.
Scott Black has been promoted to the position of chief operating officer at the landlord following the departure of its group executive director for affordable housing, Debi Marriott-Lavery.
Ms Marriott-Lavery was described as being “an incredible advocate for our customers, including being instrumental in establishing our National Customer Forum”.
The promotion for Mr Black will see him take over the association’s affordable housing business in addition to his existing development responsibilities.
Greg Reed, group chief executive at Places for People, said: “Scott joined Places for People two years ago as group executive director for development and in that time, he has delivered considerable success for the development business.
“Bringing the two business areas together with Scott gives us the opportunity to create one team focused on delivering a better and more integrated service to our customers.”
The promotion follows a number of recent hires at the landlord, which appointed its first-ever group partnerships director at the start of last month.
Steve Ashton, who has more than 20 years’ experience of partnership management in regulated sectors, will lead the landlord’s strategy on mergers, acquisitions, contract negotiations and group-level partnerships.
In May, the build-to-rent investment arm of Places for People also appointed Mark Vickery as its new director of business development.
