The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has launched its latest tenant perception survey.
The Continuous Tenant Omnibus Survey (CTOS) is the main way the landlord collects information about what their tenants think about their tenancy, their home, the service they receive and the neighbourhood they live in.
The survey has been carried out for more than 20 years.
The NIHE uses the findings to monitor any change in tenants’ opinions over time and make any necessary changes to improve the quality of its services.
The latest published results, which covered 2022, revealed that 78% of tenants said they were satisfied with the overall service provided by the landlord, down from 84% in 2021.
Comparatively in England, the regulator’s tenant satisfaction measures found that 70% of social tenants are either very satisfied or fairly satisfied with the overall service from their landlord.
The 2022 survey also found that 78% of residents said they were satisfied with the general condition of their home, while 85% felt their home was the right size, and 90% were satisfied with their neighbourhood.
The NIHE said in a statement: “Over the coming weeks, our surveyors from Perceptive Insight, an independent research company, will be contacting some of our tenants by telephone.
“If you have been selected, you will have already received a letter informing you about the research and asking you to participate.
“It will only take 30 minutes or so. Your answers will help us to understand what we are doing well and what we need to do better.”
It said all information will be collected in “strict confidence” and will be processed “solely for the purposes of housing research”.
“If you receive a call, please participate. This is your chance to help us improve the services we provide,” the Housing Executive added.
