The housing association arm of North West-based landlord ForViva has appointed its first chief executive.
Henry Terefenko, previously group director of communities at ForViva, will be chief executive of ForHousing, which manages 24,000 homes across the North West of England, in Fylde, Knowsley, Oldham and Salford.
Until now, the social landlord has not had its own chief executive, with Tim Doyle, group chief executive at ForViva, carrying out those responsibilities.
Before ForViva was formed through the merger of City West Housing Trust and Villages Housing Association in 2015, Mr Doyle was chief executive of City West.
Mr Terefenko also came up through City West. The organisation was formed in 2008 after Salford City Council transferred part of its housing stock.
At this point, Mr Terefenko was working as a rent officer at Salford’s former ALMO, which managed that stock at the time and so he moved to City West.
He had been commercial director at ForViva’s construction division and director of operations, leading the successful bid to manage 5,500 homes for Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Mr Terefenko said: “I look forward to leading the organisation and to working with a talented team to continue to provide tenant-focused services of the highest quality. We are committed to fuelling the potential of people in the communities we work in, improving lives and enabling possibilities for all.
“I am particularly passionate about reducing poverty and raising the aspirations of communities to improve economic and social sustainability.”
Update: at 14.05 on 1.4.19 This story was updated to make clear that Mr Doyle ceased to be chief executive of City West after the merger.
