A consortium representing housing organisations in the north of England has appointed a new chair of its board of directors.
Tom Miskell took over the role at the Northern Housing Consortium (NHC) on 12 November from John Craggs, who stepped down at the end of his five-year term.
Mr Miskell is vice chair of Johnnie Johnson Housing Trust, which provides homes for 5,000 tenants, and has been an NHC director since 2006.
Commenting on his appointment, NHC chief executive, Jo Boaden, said: “Tom has great experience across the housing sector and is passionate about housing in the north.”
She added Mr Craggs had been “an invaluable source of support” during his term.
Mr Miskell praised Mr Craggs’ “excellent stewardship”, adding: “I passionately believe the consortium’s ability to bring leaders from housing and local government sectors together to jointly deliver innovative and high quality services. Influencing government thinking is absolutely essential in the current environment and I look forward to playing my part as chair.”
The NHC has 450 members including housing associations, councils and arm’s-length management organisations.
