Labour has added two new faces to its frontbench housing team as part of a shadow cabinet reshuffle, while John Healey will stay on as shadow housing secretary.
Tony Lloyd, MP for Rochdale, and Melanie Onn, MP for Great Grimsby, have joined the party’s housing team. They replace Ruth Cadbury and Andy Slaughter.
Mr Healey said via Twitter that Ms Cadbury and Mr Slaughter were “big losses”, but that he was “delighted” to welcome Mr Lloyd and Ms Onn to the fold.
Before last month’s general election, Mr Lloyd had been the Greater Manchester Police and Crime Commissioner and interim mayor.
Ms Onn, who according to the Grimsby Telegraph received support from housing charity Doorstep as a teenager, was first elected in May 2015.
In a statement, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: “I’m delighted to be filling Labour’s shadow frontbench with a wealth of talent.
“Our new shadow ministers will bolster the excellent work of Labour’s shadow cabinet and departmental teams.”
