Accent reveals extra housing associations on Homes England strategic partnership bid
Accent has teamed up with three delivery partners to help it start the 3,300 homes it promised Homes England over the next five years as part of the strategic partnership programme.
The housing association, which yesterday secured £210m in Homes England funding, revealed that it would be enlisting the help of accessible housing specialist Habinteg, Leeds Federated and PA Housing over the next five years as delivery partners.
The four housing associations, with wide-ranging geographies, will work together to start 3,300 by 2026. They have promised to deliver a number of the homes through modern methods of construction and using SME builders.
Earlier this week, Homes England revealed that it had picked 31 strategic partners to help deliver the 90,000 homes outside of London. The delivery is being supported by more than £5bn in grant.
The decision by Accent to partner with PA Housing comes after the two opened discussions about a potential merger in March.

However, in May, they decided to stop discussions and end the plans to become a 44,000-home association.
PA Housing currently owns 23,000 homes in London, Surrey and the Midlands, while Accent has 20,700 homes in the North, Midlands and South East.
The 4,500-home landlord Leeds Federated has previously partnered with Accent as part of the Accent Group Consortium.
The consortium was established in 2006 and now has 12 different members, including Mosscare St Vincent’s, Harrogate Housing and Stockport Homes. Habinteg is also a member after joining the consortium more recently than Leeds Federated.
Accent was picked as a strategic partner under the previous Shared Ownership and Affordable Housing Programme that between 2018 to 2021. This was extended to 2023 as a result of construction delays brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
The landlord received the fifth largest grant allocation of all strategic partners during the last round of funding. The last funding round resulted in 23 strategic partners being funded to start 13,475 homes by March 2022.
