The housing market renewal pathfinder programme will be the focus of a new parliamentary inquiry.
Clive Betts, Labour MP and chair of the communities and local government select committee, said the investigation will consider the effects of the government’s decision to stop funding from 10 pathfinders, which were halfway through their programmes. ‘The inquiry stemmed from a feeling that in the current economic climate, regeneration was going to be something that was pretty important,’ he added.
The decision to end the pathfinder programme six years early has put £1 billion private sector investment in affected areas at risk (Inside Housing, 21 January).
