A2Dominion has continued its recruitment spree by hiring two more directors as it looks to overcome governance issues.
The 38,000-home landlord, which is currently non-compliant with the regulator’s governance standards, has appointed a director of building safety and an asset director. Both are newly created roles.
Tania Emery, who has spent only seven months at for-profit Sage Homes as health and safety director, is making a swift return to A2Dominion to take the lead on building and fire safety.
Prior to Blackstone-backed Sage, she spent seven years as the G15 landlord’s head of health and safety and compliance assurance.
Conan McKinley has taken the asset director job after nearly four years at Your Housing Group. He has also worked for Gentoo, North Star Housing Group and Home Group.
The two will join a crop of new colleagues. Earlier this week, A2Dominion announced that it had appointed a head of governance and compliance. Last month, it appointed former Peabody executive Jude Cross as its director of specialist housing.
It comes after an executive shake-up by the housing association last November, which was two months after it revealed that it had fallen to a £12.8m annual deficit.
Ms Emery said: “I’m really looking forward to being part of the future of A2Dominion, working with the team to build on what’s already been started, and ensuring our customers have safe and secure homes to live in.”
A2Dominion has also been hit by regulatory issues. In January, it was downgraded to a non-compliant G3 as the English regulator said it lacked assurance the group had managed its affairs with “an appropriate degree of diligence, prudence and foresight”.
In the same month, the landlord announced that it had sold 458 homes to MTD Housing, a London-based for-profit ultimately controlled by businessmen Mark Pears and his brother Sir Trevor Pears, who operate property empire the William Pears Group.
A2Dominion also said it has reviewed more than 5,000 “historical cases” of damp and mould, while last October it appointed Mears as its new repairs and maintenance contractor.
Late last year, the landlord also announced that it was moving away from offering care services to focus solely on housing.
