Tower Hamlets Community Housing (THCH) has announced the appointment of its new chief executive in one of several major changes to the association’s senior leadership team.
Anita Khan will take up the role at THCH at the end of the year, it has confirmed, after completing her role at Hertfordshire-based landlord Settle where she is currently executive director of customer services.
Ms Khan brings 10 years’ experience to the role, with previous appointments at a number of social landlords, including Buckinghamshire Council and Shepherds Bush Housing Group.
She began her career at community-based youth charity organisations, setting up a youth branch of the London-based Karima Foundation after it was established as a charity.
Ms Khan’s appointment is the latest in a number of changes to the THCH team.
Peter Mercer will also join the group as director of development and investment. Mr Mercer previously worked as director of built environment at Estuary Housing Association. He moved into that role after spending a number of years as director of property services.
Faisal Butt, who has previously held the role of vice-chair at THCH, will be promoted to board chair at the end of this year, when Nick Abbey’s six-year tenure comes to an end.
Commenting on Ms Khan’s appointment, Mr Abbey said: “We’re delighted that Anita will be joining us as our next chief executive. Anita’s background in housing and grassroots community organisations means she brings together experience that aligns with THCH’s overall purpose.”
“Anita joins at an important time for the organisation as we continue to invest in fire safety and regeneration and, in response to feedback, revitalise how we communicate with our residents,” he added.
