The Lincolnshire Housing Partnership and Ongo have announced plans to merge if the ongoing talks are successful #UKhousing

LHP said the potential tie-up is not something it is taking lightly and that it hopes the merger will result in “a stronger, more resilient organisation that can better serve customers and tenants”.

LHP is the bigger association of the two, with around 12,500 homes in Grimsby and Boston.

Ongo has around 10,000 homes spread out across North Lincolnshire.

If the merger goes ahead, LHP said that customer rights, repairs, rent and charges will not be affected.

The landlords’ shared vision is to create a “local and large” organisation with strong community roots and a greater ability to deal with future change.

LHP and Ongo are currently completing the necessary due diligence checks. If all goes to plan, they hope to launch the new combined association in 2024.

In a release, LHP said: “Our frontline teams would be larger and cover a wider area. We would also have more specialist colleagues across the organisation. This would allow us to provide even better services to our tenants and customers.

“We would continue to invest in our existing homes, estates and regeneration plans. We would also continue to build and acquire new homes as we have set out in our current plans.”
