A house builder is set to deliver 300 new homes after acquiring a 18.5 acre site near Barnsley.
Subject to planning, Wakefield-based Avant Homes West Yorkshire will build the mixed-tenure homes in Thurnscoe, which will have a gross development value of £66.5m.
Of the 300 homes, 30 have been designated as affordable housing.
The house builder said it will submit plans for the proposed development in September and hopes to start work on the site in May 2025.
The residents are scheduled to move into their new homes in January 2026.
The homes will be a mix of energy-efficient, two, three and four-bedroom homes, the house builder said.
Richard Hosie, managing director – West Yorkshire at Avant Homes, said: “Acquiring this site in Thurnscoe represents an exciting opportunity for us to deliver our multi-tenure strategy.
“As a house builder, we want to build quality new homes for everyone. This site is in an ideal location for us to deliver our range of practically designed, energy efficient homes in a place where people want to live.
“We look forward to working with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and submitting our plans to build a new and thriving community in Thurnscoe.”
In June, Avant Homes began work on a £137m development to build 600 multi-tenure homes in North East England.
The house builder will deliver 248 homes, including 27 affordable homes, as part of the first phase of development in Edenthorpe, near Doncaster.
Avant Homes said the first properties will go on sale in September and the first residents will be able to move in sometime in spring 2025.
Avant Homes West Yorkshire currently has nine live developments ranging from Odette’s Point in Keighley, to Sorby Park in Waverley.
The company is part of the Avant Homes Group, which operates across the North of England, Midlands and Scotland.
