The Guinness Partnership has named its new chief financial officer #UKhousing

The 70,000-home group, which manages homes from Cornwall to Yorkshire, said that Mr Love would start his new role in September.

Mr Love joined the association in 2018 as director of finance at its care unit before becoming group director of care and support two years ago.

He has held several senior roles across the sector since the late 1990s, which included a stint as director of resources at West Devon Homes.

Other positions have included non-executive director at the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, and director of finance and operations at Libraries Unlimited South West.

Mr Love is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and has worked for Devon County Council and jobseeker body Pluss.

The Guinness Partnership said that Mr Love has a “strong track record in financial and risk management”.

He will replace incumbent Phil Day, who leaves to join Peabody at the end of the summer.

The Guinness Partnership retained its G1/V2 rating from the Regulator of Social Housing earlier this year.

In January, it claimed to be the first housing association in the country to receive enhanced accreditation status from the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance.

This announcement followed a deal with Lincolnshire-based housing association Ongo in March to acquire 849 homes from The Guinness Partnership.

Ongo said the move supported its aim of increasing its stock through development and acquisition.

The transfer involves the largest number of homes Scunthorpe-based Ongo has ever acquired and comes after it lined up an extra £25m in funding through an aggregator to help with its development plans.

The group said that the transfer forms part of its strategy to “consolidate our footprint in certain areas”.

Catriona Simons, chief executive of The Guinness Partnership, said: “One of our key objectives in doing this is to ensure high-quality services are being delivered to residents in an efficient and cost-effective way by a landlord who has significant presence and influence in the local area.”
