The chief executive of ForHousing has announced her retirement after just over three years leading the organisation.
Colette McKune, who took over as chief executive at the 24,000-home landlord in June 2019, will leave at the end of this month. She is planning to spend more time with her family, according to ForHousing.
Ms McKune had been with the Salford-based association for 14 years in total, having been deputy chief executive from 2015 before taking the top job. ForHousing was previously known at City West Housing Trust.
Mike Parkin, who is currently chief operating officer at ForHousing, will take over as interim chief executive from October. Mr Parkin has been at the organisation since August 2014 and been chief operating officer since June 2019.
Ms McKune was awarded an MBE in 2015 for her services to housing and the community.
She said: “It is the right time to hand over the reins to a new leader at ForHousing.
“I would like to thank everybody that I’ve worked with since I joined the organisation 14 years ago.”
Paul Kennedy, chair of ForHousing, said: “We’d like to thank Colette for everything she’s done for ForHousing.
“She has helped steer us through one of the most challenging times imaginable during the COVID-19 pandemic, and has set a clear vision within ForHousing and across the wider sector on key issues such as decarbonisation, homelessness, and equity, diversity and inclusion.
“Throughout her time as chief executive, she has been dedicated to improving lives and making more things possible for more people. We wish her the very best for the future.”
ForHousing currently has a G2/V1 rating from the English regulator.
A regulatory judgement in October 2020 said that ForHousing’s unregistered parent, ForViva, had commissioned “a series of external reviews” following “whistleblowing allegations concerning probity and a lack of transparency in decision making”.
Independent advisors were appointed for a full governance review. The Regulator of Social Housing concluded in 2020 that ForHousing met the governance requirements, “but continues to need to improve some aspects of its governance arrangements to support continued compliance”.
ForHousing maintained its G2/V1 in January this year after a stability check.
