Developer Bellway is to replace cladding at its Prospect Place block in Cardiff where aluminium composite material (ACM) was used, leading to fears over safety following the Grenfell Tower blaze.
It said it would do this work “even though we received regulatory sign off for use of ACM at the time”.
The company said it would be working directly with clients on a case-by-case basis where ACM was used, as “in all cases we received regulatory sign off at the time of construction, however the buildings, their ownership and management, and the cladding used is different on every development”.
Bellway said earlier this month in its annual results that it had set aside £5.9m to cover any remedial work needed as government guidance on cladding and fire safety evolves.
Prospect Place is a private block managed by Warwick Estates.
