At the black tie event at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in central London last night judges handed awards to landlords for their outstanding approach to development, tenant involvement and regeneration among others.
The UK Housing Awards, run by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing, is the largest and longest running awards in the sector and is now in its third decade.
This year there were a record number of guests, with over 1,000 attending. Comedian Sean Lock was overseeing proceedings.
The awards are unique because finalists have to present live to a judging panel. The panel crowned Nottingham City Homes landlord of the year.
The landlord also picked up two further gongs – for innovation of the year (over 12,000 homes) and outstanding approach to tenant involvement.
The judges said of the winner: “The winning landlord puts tenants right at the heart of what it does. It is a truly tenant-led organisation, with tenants making up the majority of the board.
“It has invested in staff to deliver an excellent landlord service, driven by ambitious targets and a strong corporate plan.
“This has delivered first rate customer satisfaction.
“This landlord is also going the extra step to look after the tenants of tomorrow: its impressive record has seen it deliver twice as many homes as its peer group.”
RHP was highly commended by the judges in the same category. They said: “The organisation demonstrated a clear and determined focus on services and what it is trying to achieve.
“The conscious decision to focus resources on the areas where the landlord can make the most difference was bold.
“This organisation’s success is built on a foundation of investing in staff. This organisation is breaking new ground with its progress on digitisation... An organisation with impressive drive and innovation.”
