A small London housing association has appointed a new director of development to oversee its housebuilding plans.
Jerome Geoghegan has joined Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association (ISHA) in the role, replacing Janet Mussington, who has retired.
Ms Mussington joined the 2,500-home landlord as a development consultant before becoming director of development in 2022. She was previously the head of development for London at Sanctuary.
ISHA said Mr Geoghegan brings 35 years of experience in the development and real estate sector to the table.
During his career, he has focused on mixed-use urban schemes, partnerships, regeneration projects and affordable housing.
He previously served as group director of development and sales at L&Q.
Ruth Davison, chief executive of ISHA, said: “While we bid farewell to Janet and her phenomenal impact on our organisation, we are thrilled to welcome Jerome.
“His extensive background in housing development is a tremendous asset for us, especially as ISHA moves beyond its 90th year with ambitions of furthering our mission in north London.
“Jerome’s expertise arrives at a crucial moment, reinforcing our commitment to building homes for the communities we exist to serve.”
Mr Geoghegan said: “Joining ISHA is both an honour and an exciting new chapter for me.
“ISHA’s dedication to building homes and communities aligns with my professional ethos.
“I’m eager to contribute to creating quality, affordable housing and continuing ISHA’s tradition of punching above its weight as a small to medium-sized association with a significant output in social housing.
“Last year alone, ISHA was responsible for building 0.5% of all social homes in England, a testament to its efficiency, expertise, passion and impact in the sector. I’m looking forward to continuing that.”
The North River Alliance (NRA) consortium, led by ISHA, was recently successful in securing £15.7m through the Greater London Authority Affordable Homes Programme to build 105 homes across north London.
The planned projects in Islington, Waltham Forest and Hackney will feature a mix of social rent, London Living Rent and shared ownership homes, with construction commencing this financial year.
