Ahead of International Women’s Day 2025, Jasmine Bosworth, assistant site manager at Keepmoat, discusses her experience as a woman working in construction and her inspiration for joining the industry
Based in Leicestershire, I began my career with the house builder in 2022 in the customer liaison team at Keepmoat. I quickly worked my way up the ranks after demonstrating my skills, willingness to learn and a strong determination to go above and beyond.
By September 2024, I had secured my current role as an assistant site manager, where I am now instrumental in helping the team to create change.
Most recently, I have begun serving on the board of the Chartered Institute of Housing Futures to contribute to shaping the type of multi-tenure homes being delivered by the regional Keepmoat team.
Having grown up in social housing, I was always determined to enter the sector and work to improve the lives of other people in similar situations. My personal experience of living in social housing has really shaped my perspective and has been the driving force behind my career in the construction industry.
I believe that everyone deserves a safe, comfortable and supportive home environment, and I am committed to advocating for improvements in social housing.
“I want to continue raising awareness about the different roles within the industry to encourage the next generation of the workforce”
The construction industry offers a wide variety of career opportunities that many people may not be aware of. I want to continue raising awareness about the different roles within the industry to encourage the next generation of the workforce. There are so many incredible reasons for women to join this field and contribute to meaningful change.
I have had a lot of career highlights, but I’m particularly proud of being the driving force behind Keepmoat’s partnership with national charity Shoe Aid, which works to reduce footwear waste, minimise environmental pollution, and improve the lives of thousands of homeless people across the UK.
Prior to joining the Keepmoat team based in Nottingham, my passion led me to work in a role where I was responsible for refurbishing people’s homes, working on the frontline of the UK’s housing crisis. It was this, with my ambition to create change through my career, that saw me seek employment at a house builder.
Initially, I started by supporting customers in our local area, which provided me with a solid foundation to understand the industry’s needs and the impact we have on our community. This role not only honed my skills, but also ignited my enthusiasm for the work Keepmoat does, ultimately serving as an excellent stepping stone that assisted me into my current position.
“Moments like International Women’s Day provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the remarkable women who are making their mark in construction”
Through hard work and determination, I have also recently been nominated for various internal and external awards for my innovative ideas, diligent work ethic and my advocacy for change in the construction industry. This is a topic I am passionate about and will continue to promote.
My career at Keepmoat has been an incredible journey so far, and I am excited to see what comes next and to continue to improve my knowledge. There are countless opportunities within the industry and every day is a learning experience.
Moments like International Women’s Day provide a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the remarkable women who are making their mark in construction. It’s a chance to uplift and encourage the next generation of workers, showcasing the diverse paths available in our industry and emphasising the vital role they can play in building homes designed for the future.
