This session will explore how to adapt to the new regulatory regime within local authority governance structures.

  • What governance structures are available to ensure the tenant voice is heard and influences decisions? 
  • How to balance the demands of regulatory change with the multiple priorities that councillors oversee, including homelessness
  • How to fund the regulatory requirements with ever-stretched budgets  
  • How to manage the pressure on councillors that hold the responsibility of a board:
    - How to involve council leaders and other cabinet members to support
  • How will the inspection regime differ for local authorities and how are they preparing?
