On top of her day-to-day role, Violet is also chair of Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing’s (MTVH) ethnicity network group ‘Rise’, which supports a range of key diversity and inclusion initiatives. She was instrumental in MTVH’s celebrations for the 75th anniversary of Windrush Day in June 2023; this was a role of huge importance to MTVH as an organisation, as it was founded by Lady Molly Huggins, a philanthropist with deep-rooted connections to the Windrush generation.

 

Violet is also communications director for UNIFY, a campaigning group of housing associations formed to ensure the voices of diverse colleagues in the sector are heard. She helped organise its hugely successful 2023 conference, which brought together leaders and colleagues from across the sector.

 

It is little wonder that in 2021, Violet was crowned ‘Woman of the Year (Leadership)’ at the Women in Housing Awards following her work at SO Resi – or that last year she was shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Achievement’ for the G15 Ethnicity in Housing Awards.
