Tom oversees the investment programme at Torus. Despite challenging times in the sector, he has successfully delivered Torus’ £28m component renewal programme over the past year-and-a-half. By fostering collaboration with Torus’ long-term partners, Tom implemented effective project control mechanisms. He has developed consistent processes for delivering component programmes such as kitchens, bathrooms, windows and doors, while the implementation of monthly financial and delivery trackers has ensured consistent project delivery and highlighted key risks.

 

Recently, Tom led a pioneering project to turn a redundant wing of an existing sheltered housing scheme into a supported living scheme catering to individuals with mild to severe learning difficulties. This project included anti-barricade and anti-ligature furniture integrated with staff attack alarms, warden call and door entry systems. Tom managed the project as both a designer and project manager, engaging successfully with various stakeholders.

 

By involving his team in the design process and conducting thorough lessons-learned exercises, Tom turned challenges into valuable learning experiences, demonstrating the importance of addressing issues head-on.
