Sophie breaks the mould of the traditional finance director. She believes firmly in the purpose of social housing and uses her significant influence across the sector to shape policy and lobby government to improve housing standards, governance and regulation for the benefit of all customers, not just those directly affected by the strategic decisions she makes in her day-to-day role.

 

At Newport City Homes, Sophie leads on all strategic, corporate and operational aspects of financial accounting and planning, treasury management and procurement – and she also works tirelessly to drive cultural and organisational changes to ensure her employer’s strategic priorities are delivered. Sophie is also chair of Community Housing Cymru’s finance service delivery group, which supports the body’s lobbying and advocacy work on sector issues such as decarbonisation, rent policy and the grant regime.

 

She also sits on the Audit and Risk Committee of the National Housing Federation as the sole Welsh representative, broadening her reach and impact across the UK’s social housing sector as a whole.
