Customer influence committee chair and board member, Eastlight Community Homes

Michelle is an Eastlight tenant and a high-profile advocate for social housing tenants across the UK. She became an involved resident just four years ago, when she joined Eastlight as a trainee committee member. Since then, Michelle has gone on to win a Women in Housing Award and has achieved her Level 4 Chartered Institute of Housing qualification. She also now serves on Eastlight’s board, where she acts as a sounding board for the chair and as an intermediary for other directors.

 

Michelle has been at the forefront of the formation of Eastlight’s Customer Influence Committee. She has ensured it puts power into the hands of Eastlight residents and makes sure their views influence decision-making throughout the organisation. Under her leadership, the committee has become an established part of Eastlight’s governance structure.

 

A consistently authentic and proactive voice, Michelle frequently shares the insight she gained through her own experience of being homeless and as a tenant of several social landlords.
