From the start of her career, Halisha has gone above and beyond to raise awareness of housing, using her own example of being a woman of colour working in development to smash stereotypes and encourage young people to follow her lead in making it their career of choice.
She began her journey through a graduate scheme in development at Accord Housing, and quickly rose through the ranks. Before long, she was project-managing a scheme of 105 homes. One of Halisha’s proudest projects was a modular development of studio apartments targeted at under 35s as move-on accommodation.
Within four years, Halisha moved on to become new business development manager at Bromsgrove District Housing Trust – and that same year, aged just 26, Halisha became a board member at Brighter Futures Housing Association.
In December 2020, Halisha joined CIH Futures as a volunteer – and in October 2023, she became CIH Futures’ first chair to come from an ethnic minority background.
