Ben has a longstanding track record of as one of the most effective campaigners in housing. Following stints as a senior parliamentary assistant, councillor and with the campaign group 38 Degrees, Ben joined social housing communications specialists Hough Bellis two years ago and has since led on a number of high-profile campaigns.
He was one of the brains behind Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, securing a parliamentary debate and several government policy announcements. In Greater Manchester, he is leading on developing a partnership between the region’s homelessness charities to campaign for the abolition of Section 21 no-fault evictions and to call for more social housing provision across the region. Last year, he helped to build a campaign with partners from across the sector calling on the next government to ensure that Local Housing Allowance rates cover the cheapest third of rates.
Ben has also worked with the consumer protection group Heat Trust to ensure that more than 500,000 households on heat networks who were locked out of the national Energy Bill Support Scheme were able to access financial help.
